Hey! I’m Hannah Drapinski.
I am self taught artist born and raised in the Midwest. I grew up in a small country town in Wisconsin where the smell of sweet corn and cows made you feel at home.
I graduated high school when I was sixteen years old. When I was a kid, I would doodle on anything I could get my hands on. Little did I know that those insignificant doodles would someday turn into illustrations people would pay for.
While still in school, I started working a costumer service job at an art store close to home to earn money to start college. Since then, I have been hired as an illustrator and designer for an online stamping and papercrafting company, began teaching watercolor classes, built my social media following, and launched my own business and LLC.
I am also an avid writer. I have completed two books throughout the years, and I am working on another one. My favorite definition of a writer is: “an artist of the written word”. You can be an artist in many forms, not just with a paintbrush and canvas. In my opinion…
AN ARTIST IS ANYONE WHO IS ABLE, THROUGH VIRTUE OF IMAGINATION, TO CREATE SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL WITH THEIR WORK.
ART IS FREEDOM AND EXPRESSION, IN EVERY ASPECT OF LIFE.
I see the world as it is. A beautiful array of colors and shapes, ideas and formulas, voids and space, love and fear. The world is a canvas that left just enough space for everyone to paint their own story. Some paint out and off the canvas onto the walls if they dare, and others paint in a smaller area than provided. And then there are those who run their strokes over and into the lives of many others either ruining their work or creating something simultaneously beautiful. I see the world for how it is supposed to be seen; with an open heart, mind, body, and soul. It is all the same to me; parts of life that are different and perhaps peculiar, the art of the world.
This art it pours out of me, as if my heart wishes to sing all day and all night. It is a chatterbox, this heart of mine. It dances in the words as if it were performing a ballet, loving each tiny moment. It comes as a river, often gentle, yet with a flow that appears to have a sense of where it is going. It comes to be born rather than molded, to show itself for what it is. It is a lot of me, and a lot of divine inspiration. Or that is how I see it when a person truly loves their work.
I am of Bohemian and Russian heritage, I am an unmistakable introvert, I am hooked on ice cream and cheetos, I have a very unique fashion style, I adore animals, and I love Harry Potter (Hufflepuffs unite!). In my spare time I enjoy burying my head in a book, cooking meals that are healthy and paleo friendly, playing my old friends – the piano and guitar, doing embroidery, taking photos, going on long walks, and dreaming up new adventures with my best friend and husband, Jesse.
Thank you all for sharing in my journey with me. Perhaps you will learn something from my scattered mind… and if not, I can promise you a lot of laughs.
